On a rainy day, look at the choices of movies playing in their English original version (OV) at the Turmpalast in Frankfurt.
Take the S2 from the Eppstein train station to Frankfurt-Hauptwache, the center of the city. Then walk up the street to the Eschersheimer Turm. In the summer, you can enjoy a beer beneath the medieval tower, or have a sub at Subway, if you are craving an American snack, after picking up your tickets.
Keep in mind that German movie theaters have advertisements in addition to previews, after which the theater lights go on to give you yet another chance to go to the concession stand before the movie starts.
There is an English-language bookstore next to the theater with newspapers, magazines and books. If you are new to Germany, you can pick up "These Strange German Ways," which was written by a colleague at Frankfurt University, and has some very fitting cartoons to illustrate certain German peculiarities.
27 August 2010: Unfortunately, the TurmPalast has closed. However, Metropolis shows a number of English movies and is also located near the Eschersheimer Turm.

They closed the Turm Palast in June. It is no more. Such a sad day! The Metropolis located behind the Eschenheimer Turm is showing English films now. Usually at least 3 OV.
Thanks for sharing. I've been in the US for the last year and didn't realize it had closed. We want to see "Cats and Dogs" in English this weekend, so I'll look where it's showing and post THAT link for those interested in English movies! Wow, an institution is gone though. I remember seeing my first movie in English there in 1988 and being amazed that the refreshment stand sold Coke with Jack Daniels! "Airplane" was as a result VERY funny!
